Welcome to the Great Lakes Fancy Rat Association! We are a Michigan-based social club dedicated to promoting fancy rats as the wonderful companion animals that they are.   Even though we are based in Michigan, we welcome all rat lovers. Fancy rats make wonderful pets for many reasons. - They are smart, curious and love attention from their humans. - They are very social creatures. - Having a rat is like having a small dog that doesn't bark, need to go for walks or need vaccines. - They are extremely clean animals and can often times be trained to use a litter box. - They are allowed in most apartments, unlike dogs and cats. - Rats make excellent companions for both children and adults alike. - They are a wonderful stress reliever, quite like an aquarium.
